By default, the Windows 10 Start menu will open in a size that accommodates all pinned items. For those who wish to use a larger Start menu, opening the Start menu in fullscreen mode can be done.

When fullscreen mode is activated, the Start screen will cover the entire desktop and provide more space to pin applications, and your Live tiles will be larger.

How to Make the Start Menu Fullscreen

If you want to enable fullscreen Start mode, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Start menu and then click on Settings to open Windows 10 Settings.
  2. When Settings is open, click Personalization and then Start.
  3. In the Start settings, look for the setting named 'Use Start full screen' and click the button to enable this feature, as shown below.

  4. You can now close the Start settings screen.

Now that you have enabled fullscreen Start mode, when you click the Start button, the Start menu will be displayed in fullscreen and cover the entire desktop.

Conclusion

When using Start in fullscreen mode, you can close the Start menu at any time by pressing the Escape key on your keyboard or by clicking on a program or another screen.

To disable fullscreen Start mode, simply follow these steps again, but this time disable the 'Use Start full screen' setting.
