With the theme Mandalika Radical Experience, PT Nora Jelajah Dunia (NORA) is now offering Radical Motorsport racing cars for rent at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This program, a collaboration with the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), aims to provide all Indonesians the opportunity to experience the thrill of speed with Radical Motorsport racing cars at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.
"We are pleased with this agreement, considering that since the end of last year, MGPA and Radical have been discussing what programs to run at Mandalika, especially in the motorsport field with alternative vehicles," said Priandhi Satria, CEO of MGPA, at a meeting on Saturday (18/05/2024).
He further explained that when PT NORA was appointed by Radical Motorsport in England as a distributor to market Radical racing cars, the move aligned with their desire to offer a unique motorsport experience.
"Because the Radical unit provides a very sporty driving sensation, its engine is fast, handling is comfortable, and its top speed is impressive. Everyone who tries this demo unit is satisfied," added Priandhi.
If you're interested in trying this open racing car, the Mandalika Radical Experience offers two categories: Arrive & Drive and Passenger Ride.
"The Arrive & Drive program allows participants to drive themselves with instructor guidance, while in the Passenger Ride, participants will sit in the passenger seat," explained Didit Adipratama, Marketing Director of Radical Motorsport Indonesia (NORA).
He stated that between 6 to 10 Radical Motorsport units will arrive at the Mandalika Circuit. The units available are Radical SN1 XXR and SN3 XXR, both of which can be used for the Arrive & Drive and Passenger Ride programs.
Here are the rental costs for the Mandalika Radical Experience:
Arrive & Drive starts from Rp 7,499,000 using the Radical SR1 XXR for 6 laps.
Passenger Ride starts from Rp 3,999,000 using the Radical SR1 XXR for 4 laps. In addition to the previously
mentioned rental packages, NORA also offers rental packages using the Radical SR3 XXR with different prices and conditions.
For information, in this Radical racing car rental package, participants will receive special safe driving training for circuit racing, the opportunity to practice using a Racing Simulator, and complete racing gear, including shoes and helmets.
"So participants just need to come to Mandalika without bringing anything because we have prepared everything," said Didit.
The Mandalika Radical Experience not only provides the opportunity to drive Radical racing cars for several laps at the Mandalika Circuit but also offers other programs such as the Radical Racing School. This program invites Indonesian youths who have a passion for motorsport, especially car racing, to participate in training to become Radical racers. Yasuo Senna Iriawan, a young Indonesian kart racer who is now a Professional Driver at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, explained that the Radical Racing School is divided into three different classes.
"There are Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional classes," he said.
In this training, participants will be taught to master every turn on the racetrack and how to drive a racing car safely but still competitively to become a champion.
Using Radical Motorsport racing cars, participants will gain knowledge about the maximum capacity of the vehicle and will train to control the racing car with a Suzuki Hayabusa engine.
After successfully completing the training, participants will receive a racing certificate.
"If they initially enter the Beginner class and then move up to Intermediate, then move up to the Pro class and graduate, if they want to become professional racers in the National championship, we will also help take care of their document needs until they get a starting license," Senna said.
Through this training, it is hoped that racing can be more accessible to various layers of Indonesian society and develop into a new industry in the country.
Another program from PT NORA is the Radical Academy, similar to the Nissan GT Academy that has been running for several years, but using Radical racing cars.
"This program is expected to let everyone experience the lifestyle of motorsport. You don't need to immediately become a racer but can start from a racing simulator which eventually leads to racing with the actual car," said Didit.
The Radical Academy program opens up opportunities for racing simulator enthusiasts to record their best times in the Radical Racing Simulator. Participant registration is open during The Elite Showcase event at ICE BSD City on May 18-19, 2024, and will reopen at PIK Avenue, North Jakarta.
From all registered participants, 40 racers with the fastest times will be selected to advance to the semi-finals. Subsequently, from the selected 40 racers, 6 participants will be chosen to compete in the Grand Final.
"Later, 6 participants will go to Mandalika to try the actual car," said Didit.
Through the Radical Academy program, it is hoped that the Radical Cup Indonesia event, a race using Radical cars, can be held. The Radical Cup has been held in 14 different countries including the United States, Europe, Australia, and the Philippines.
"The hope is that there will be a Radical Cup Indonesia and later our best representative will be sent to the Asia Pacific level," said Didit.

This two-passenger racing car is 3,860 mm long, 1,560 mm wide, and 1,020 mm high. With a very low body profile to support aerodynamics, this car is designed without doors and a roof but is equipped with roll bars that protect the driver and passenger's sides, front, and back.
The total weight of this car is only 510 kg for the SR1 and 600 kg for the SR3, made possible by the majority of its body being made of carbon fiber composites.
The engine has a capacity of 1,340 cc with 4 RPE Gen 5 cylinders that produce a power of 190 PS, and there is also an SR3 RS model with a 1,500 cc engine that produces 229 PS and a torque of 182 Nm.
With a 6-speed sequential transmission, this car is claimed to be able to reach speeds of up to 222 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
