SuSE Linux, IBM launch software integration center
Collaboration will initially focus on the SLES OS and DB2 Universal database
Enterprises needing server software support from SuSE Linux AG running on IBM Corp. middleware can turn to a new software integration center launched Thursday in Toronto by the two vendors.
The collaboration will focus on the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) operating system and, initially, on the IBM DB2 Universal Database offerings, but will be extended to other IBM products, SuSE said.
SuSE’s enterprise server product is the first Linux operating system to be validated on all hardware platforms supported by DB2 for Linux and validated to run DB2 Enterprise Server Edition, SuSE said.
In the software integration center, located in IBM’s Toronto lab facilities, IBM and SuSE will collaborate on porting, migration, certification and support of future DB2 software offerings on the SLES platform, the Nuremburg, Germany, software vendor said.
More than 60 million users from 425,000 companies worldwide rely on the DB2 Universal Database, according to IBM.
