Groove, Documentum team up for distributed content management
GROOVE NETWORKS JOINED forces with Documentum on Tuesday to jointly create a CM (content management) system designed to serve geographically dispersed project teams. Both companies will market and sell the combined offering. The joint offering consists of a connector between the Documentum CM platform and Groove’s decentralized collaboration software, which allows project teams to access content stored within the Documentum content repository and pull it into a Groove shared space, according to officials at Groove, in Beverly, Mass. In addition, the product allows project team members to collaboratively view, edit, and update content either online or offline. After collaborating on the content, team members can then publish content in the Documentum repository where it can be accessed by other team members, officials said. Groove and Documentum are targeting the product at industries such as pharmaceutical, government, and professional services, which typically operate projects that cross organizational boundaries.
