Borland acquires CORBA-based embedded systems development software
BORLAND SOFTWARE ON Tuesday announced its acquisition of the assets of Highlander Engineering, a developer of software for embedded systems. The transaction involves cash payouts not to exceed $2 million over a two-year period, contingent upon the financial performance of Highlander products and services, according to Scotts Valley, Calif.-based Borland. Highlander, of Lakeland, Fla., provides VisiBroker, which is a CORBA run-time and supporting environment for embedded systems that is based on Borland’s Enterprise Server technology. Through the acquisition, Borland is building on its JBuilder and JDataStore tools and expanding the company’s presence in the embedded and wireless applications space, the vendor said.
