Enhydra ships on CD

Lutris Technologies has announced that Enhydra 2.3, a Java/XML application server, is now available on CD.

Enhydra 2.3 has been enhanced with the addition of Enhydra Tools for JBuilder. These tools are compatible with Inprise/Borland’s JBuilder offering. Wizards simplify development efforts; particularly helpful is an application wizard that generates Enhydra application shells to speed the development of an application within JBuilder. This eliminates much of the structural preparation needed when creating three-tier applications. An Enhydra XML Compiler (XMLC) Wizard is included as a JBuilder add-in wizard. The XMLC Wizard functions within JBuilder and guides developers through the selection of the to-be-compiled XML or HTML files, compiles the files, and then examines the compiled trace and output logs. The CD also includes an example that shows how this feature can be used to create dynamic Web pages using JBuilder and Enhydra XMLC.

The disk contains Enhydra 2.3 as well as Inprise’s JBuilder 3 Foundation and the Enhydra Tools for JBuilder. It will be distributed in the April 2000 issue of Enterprise Linux Magazine.

SiteView simplifies online shopping

SiteView Technologies has introduced SiteViewer Robust, a Java application that helps users browse and purchase items from a PC desktop without a browser. SiteViewer brings an ecommerce store to users’ desktops, allowing them to download a self-extracting application containing a Website’s database and images.

The application self-installs and places an icon on the user’s desktop. Users can then browse the electronic catalog on- or offline, without using a browser. The icon can be updated by signing on to the Internet and selecting an update option. The technology circumvents search service issues and navigation difficulties, and provides one-click access to a company’s products and services. Purchases can be made through the program, and users need only to sign on when they check out.
