UserLand adds Community Server to Weblog, publishing system

MILLBRAE, CALIF.-BASED USERLAND Software the week of March 11 plans to introduce Community Server, an add-on product to its Radio UserLand 8 Weblog system and authoring tool. Community Server enables Radio users to build community statistics and other information for access by private communities. UserLand defines Weblogs as time-organized Web sites, in which items are based on when they were received, with an archive and calendar. Radio UserLand 8 enables desktop-based publishing of a Web site and is built on a content management system. Content is published to a central hosting server, based on Apache and Linux. Users can subscribe to other Weblogs and news sites and have results delivered to a single page. “The way Radio plays within large companies is as a knowledge management tool,” said John Robb, president and COO of UserLand, based in Acton, Mass.
